BYU Students on African Americans and Black History Month (I can’t find the words for this)
I want to apologize for the stupid things that some members of my religion say. But I also want to remind you that out of 14,131,467 people, only 43% of the church’s members live in the United States. We aren’t all this bad. I promise.
Do the same thing at any US college campus and you’ll probably get a similar response (oh here’s an idea: go around asking people what they think a Mormon is/what they believe. To us, those answers are just as shocking as the ones in this video). Be honest, public education hasn’t done justice to black history, no matter where you live in this country.
I was going to go into a rant about the stereotypes perpetuated by the media and whatnot but I bet you can see where that was going.
I’m sorry again for dumb things people say. Just like every black person doesn’t want to been seen as an adulterous, uneducated gang member, not every member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints wants to be seen as a ignorant, hateful polygamist.

Since General Conference was last weekend, I want to recommit to this blog! My plan is to post lots of things but I need your help.
